This Yoga App Wants to Be Your New Alarm Clock

Mornings can be rough, but this new app might be just the thing to turn those AM blues around.

If you've ever treated yourself to a yoga class first thing in the morning then you already know this to be true: waking up with your practice sets a positive tone for the rest of the day. Unfortunately, mornings can be rough—frantic even—and the possibility of hitting the mat before you head out the door is slim to none. You can't figure out what to wear, you're having a bad hair day, you're nervous for that 1:00 meeting—whatever the issue at hand is, waking up with yoga might help you take the edge off.

Enter your new morning BFF: The new Yoga Wake Up app is the brain child of yogi—and cofounder and developer—Joauqin Brown. After experiencing the bliss of a relaxed and refreshing practice at Equinox, Joauqin had a sort of 'light bulb' moment... Every morning should start this way. Joaquin told Allure ,“I thought, how wonderful the world would be if everyone woke up like this.”

Well, now we can. And—bonus points—we can do it without getting out of bed, too!

Rather than waking up to jolting alarm ringtones, the Yoga Wake Up app allows you to wake up to soft, calming sounds—like the ones you'd hear throughout your yoga class. You set the yoga alarm the same way that you would set your regular alarm clock and wake up to an audio-guided yoga practice that you can do from the comfort of your bed.

With the free download of the app you'll be able to create customizable routines to get the most out of your mornings. You'll also get two free downloads, and you'll have the option to make in-app purchases for more classes thereafter. Each sequece is about 10 minutes, which is just one minute longer than the standard 'snooze time' on your iPhone.

Thanks to Yoga Wake Up you can now start your morning off with a mindful meditation and stretch routine rather than another round of unfulfilling 'snoozes'.
